 Margaux village lies on the left bank of Medoc, which is the largest one of the famous 4 villages. Its area of vine are more than 3000 hectares, hold the most of Grands Crus Classés. There are 21 estates that ranked as Grands Crus Classés in 1855 classification, which included from first growth to fifth growth, most of them are second growth and third growth. There still had a set of excellent Crus Bourgeois. Margaux village is blossoming freely, but the quality is varied. Estates: 21Grands Crus Classés Soil: White gravel, limestone and clay Area: more than 700 ha(cover 6% vineyards in Medoc) Major grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot Age: 5 to 25 years and better vintage even more. Vintages(recommended): 2005, 2003, 2000, 1998, 1995, 1990, 1989, 1986, 1982 Character: complex and multitiered aroma, with floral, fruity, woody, red fruit, toast, coffee and truffle fragrance. The wines from Margaux appellation are delicate, elegant, smooth and round, together with depth, medium-to-full bodied, very elegance. General speaking, its wines are not hard to appreciate. The leading estate of Margaux appellation is Chateau Margaux, the first growth in 1855 classification. The third growth, Chateau Palmer is always in the second position, but its price and quality have been at the ‘Super-second’ level. From the third to fifith growths estate, only Palmer is in the first rank in the Robert Parker's ratings. The rest famous classed growths as follow: Chateau Lascombes, Chateau Rauzan Segla, Chateau Rauzan Gassies, Chateau Cantenac Brown, Chateau d`Issan, etc.
