Petit Verdot
Brief introduction: The Petit Verdot grape variety is one of the five classic Bordeaux blend. With the flavor of spicy and pepper, its style is very similar with the Shiraz. Thick skin and dark colour, tannic,full of fragrance. 
Wine regions:
Except some regions of Bordeaux of France, it is also planted in Napa Valley, California ,Americia. But its production is very small in Napa Valley.


Malbec 
Brief introduction: Malbec is also known as Cot. Malbec is one of the six grape varieties approved for making red wines in the Bordeaux region of France. While acreage of Malbec is declining in France, in Argentina the grape is surging and has become a "national variety" of sort that is uniquely identified with Argentine wine. In Argentina, Malbec is as important as Merlot. It’s ripe, soft, full-bodied ,deep color and intense fruity flavors with a velvety texture. In recent times, the popularity of the variety mostly consigned to the southwestern part of France. Its stronghold remains Cahors.
Wine regions:
Southwestern part of France, Argentina, Chile, Australia, California of the USA, north part of Italy.


Zinfandel 
Brief introduction: Zinfandel was introduced into California of America in 1700s from Italy. A specialty of California. The grapes typically produce a robust red wine, although a semi-sweet rosé. It’s better for drink when it is young, but some full-bodied red wine can be cellared for at least 10 years. Often with the flavor of blackberry, clove, cinamon and fresh pepper.
Wine regions: :Dry Creek Valley, Alexandra Valley, Geyserville, Amador, Sierra Foothill and Paso Robles.


Tempranillo
Brief introduction: The Tempranillo grape variety is only grown on the Iberian peninsula in Spain and Portugal. It is referred to by many different names in various parts of Spain and as Tinta Roriz in the Douro river area of Portugal. Its name is the diminutive of the Spanish temprano ("early"), a reference to the fact that it ripens several weeks earlier than most Spanish red grapes. In Spain Tempranillo is the most important red variety, and is often referred to as Spain's "noble grape". It is the major grape in Rioja red wines. In the wines from Rioja, Tempranillo makes wines that are medium bodied , and not very high in acid with dark colors and flavors of plum and black currants.




Nebbiolo
Brief introduction: Nebbiolo (Italian), or Nebieul (Piedmontese) is a red Italian wine grape variety. Nebbiolo produces lightly colored red wines can be highly tannic in youth with scents of tar and roses. As they age, the wines take on a characteristic brick-orange hue at the rim of the glass and mature to reveal other aromas and flavors such as violets, tar, wild herbs, cherries, raspberries, truffles, tobacco, and prunes. Nebbiolo wines can require years of aging to balance the tannins with other characteristics.
Wine regions: Italy, Australia, California, New Zealand, South America, Argentina.


Sangiovese 
Brief introduction: Sangiovese is the primary grape used in Northern Italy in the region of Tuscany to make Chianti and also for Brunello di Montalcino. It’s name derives from the Latin sanguis Jovis, "the blood of Jove". Sangiovese produces wines that are spicy, with high acid levels, flavor of earth,cheery, herb, mushroom and shed, smooth texture and medium body.
Wine regions: Italy, Argentina, Romania, Corsica Island, California, Australia and Chile.


Barbera
Brief introduction: Barbera is a red Italian wine grape variety . It produces good yields and is known for deep color, low tannins and high levels of acid, good aging potential, but all these refer to grapes grow in Piemonte or southern part of Italy. Generally, the wine has light tannin levels, deep garnet colors and full body.
Wine regions: Piemonte and southern part of Italy, Argentina, California, Barbera D'Alba


Dolcetto
Brief introduction: It is used in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. It is early-matured, tannic, when fermentation it will produce lots of sediment. Dolcetto wines are known for black cherry and licorice flavors with some prunes and a characteristically bitter finish reminiscent of almonds.




Carignane
Brief introduction: Carignane is thought to have originated in northern Spain and grows well in a 'Mediterranean' climate. As a result, it is widely grown in many of the countries that border the Mediterranean Sea including France, Italy, Spain, and Algeria. Carignane is the most widely planted grape in France. It has also found a home in almost every other wine producing country around the world. Wine made from Carignane usually has red-fruit characteristics, deep violet and purple color, strong tannin structure and high levels of alcohol content. It is sometimes peppery like Syrah.. These characteristics have made it very popular as a blending agent in the vast quantities of local table wines (jug wines) that are consumed around the world.


Grenache
Brief introduction: Grenache (pronounced gren-ash) (in Spanish, Garnacha, in Catalan, Garnatxa) is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. Grenache is the dominant variety in most Southern Rhône wines, especially in Châteauneuf-du-Pape where it is typically over 80% of the blend. In Australia it is typically blended in "GSM" blends with Syrah and Mourvèdre.
Wine regions: Spain, southern part of France.


Mourvedre
Brief introduction: The Mourvedre is a late ripening red grape variety that is widely planted along the French and Spanish coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. Its wines are medium bodied, deeply colored and full of fruit (cherry and berries). It can improve for up to 10 years when stored properly.
