History Chateau Doisy-Dae, Second Cru Class, in 1855, located in Barsac in the Sauternes appellation, has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924. For over eighty years three generations of vine growers have exercised talents to produce great sweet white wines: Georges (1924-1948), Pierre(1949-1999) and Denis since 2000.The Doisy Growth is mentioned for the first time in the opographie de tous les vignobles connus? By Andre Jullien (1932). Doisy is among the twenty growth of first class of Bordeaux white wines.Dae is ranked by Charles Cocks in 1846 among the four first class Barsac growth along with Coutet, Climens and Myrat. In 1850, the same author ranked it among the top eleven Bordeaux white estates. The name Doisy-Dae comes from the contraction between the manes of the estate Doisy and Jean Jacques Emmanuel Dae, the owner of the vineyard and wine merchant in Bordeaux. As a matter of fact the growth ranked in 1855 was referred to as Doisy which belongs to Dae. In 1875, J.J.E. Dae’s three sons inherit the estate. The same year they sell a portion to the Dubroca Brothers and in 1878 Doisy-Dae is sold to Jean Paul Billot. His only daughter, Pauline, Jean Lodo Juhel-Renoy’s spouse, wine merchant in Paris, inherits the vineyard in 1884. She sells it to the Debans Brothers in 1889. Georges Dubourdieu acquires Doisiy-Dae from the Debans heirs in 1924. For over eighty years three generations of wine growers, passionate with the making of great white wines, have worked here from father to son: Georges, Pierre and Denis. Georges, a perfectionist vine-grower and winemaker acquired the vineyard and increased its reputation with legendary vintages until 1949. Pierre, a passionate innovator and entrepreneur expanded Doisy-Dae, through purchasing a portion of Doisy-Dubroca; in the early 50’s he elaborated the Grand Vin Sec de Doisy-Dae and has for nearly fifty years been the creator of splendid wines. Since 2000, Denis has been ruling over Doisy-Dae destiny. This is followed by 9 month in stainless steel tank before bottling. Chateau Doisy-Daene Sec(First Label White): Once grapes have ripened, a few bunches are collected on each vine from all the Sauvignon plots. After an eventual phase of skin contact, a slow juice extraction is performed, protected from the oxidation process. Free run must is strictly separated from press must and their clarification undergoes by natural settling. Fermentation takes place in barrels renewed by fifth. Ageing lasts 8 months with lees regularly stirred. L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daene: For three quarters of a century, oenological progress and sensible traditions have combined to create the characteristics of Doisy-Dae grapes. With this know-how an astonishingly simplified progress has been elaborated. After the juice has been extracted through extremely slow pressings, the musts, pure and rich, ferment in new oak barrels. Chateau Doisy-Daene Sec(First Label White): The Grand Vin Sec de Doisy-Dae is one of the best Vins Blancs Secs of Bordeaux. Considered like Doisy-Dae Barsac’s young brother, it expresses in a different style all the distinction and finesse of this exceptional terroir. It possesses an unusual aromatic power, with grapefruit and white peach aromas and unleashes on the palate flavors of pear and spice. Delicious when young it also has great aging potential. (5 to 10 years). L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daene: The power and fabulous richness of this wine is indescribable. However, L’Extravagant de Doisy-Dea has a higher acquired alcohol content, (12.5 to 13.5%) than most wines made with extremely sweet musts, produced elsewhere in the world.
