Tasting Note: |
Wine Advocate, #146(2003-4) Rating: 93 points Drink: 2007-2025.
A saturated purple color offers up notes of graphite, plum, raspberry, and blueberry fruit in that distinctive Branaire style. Always a singular wine, even for St.-Julien, the wine boasts superb purity, rich, medium to full-bodied flavors, with loads of sweetness, some subtle toasty oak, and strength and richness that builds incrementally on the palate. A top-flight Branaire, this is the finest wine made at this property since the 1996 and 1982. -Robert Parker
Wine Spectator (3/31/2003) Score: 92
This is lovely, with pretty berry, floral and currant aromas. Full-bodied, with silky and caressing tannins and a delicious, fruity finish. Harmonious and enjoyable. Best after 2009. 15,000 cases made.
Decanter Rating:
Rich, sweet nose with a gentle herbaceous edge. Rich, supple but concentrated, voluptuous, seamless, big ripe tannins, a lot of power. Good length. Drink 2009-20. |
