Tasting Note: |
Wine Advocate#153(6/2004) Rating: 91 points Drink: 2009 - 2020
Sweet notes of earth, compost, and thick, juicy black currant as well as cherry characteristics jump from the glass of this dense purple-colored 2001. Medium-bodied and rich, with moderately high tannin as well as surprising power and density, it is the most backward St.-Estephe of the vintage. A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, it requires 5-6 years of cellaring, and should drink well for 15-16. -Robert Parker
Wine Spectator (1/1/2002) Score: 92-94
Sweet and ripe fruit, with spice and tarragon. Full- to medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. Refined. Almost like 1996.–JS
Decanter Rating:
Deeply concentrated Cabernet bouquet, cedary and cassis. Finesse and balance, fine, really classic expression. Drink 2009-20. |
