Tasting Note: |
Wine Advocate#153 (6/2004) Rating: 88 points Drink:2004 - 2014
This estate is finally getting the tannin under control, as previous vintages have always been a bit rustic and astringent. The 2001 offers chocolate, espresso, and sweet black currant fruit characteristics in a medium to full-bodied, charming, structured, well-textured, seductive format. Enjoy it over the next decade. -Robert Parker
Wine Spectator (3/31/2004) Score: 90
Smells like freshly cut flowers, with earth and berry. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, caressing aftertaste. Compacted and refined. This estate continues to improve. Best after 2008. –JS
Decanter Rating:
Big, solid colour, quite rich on the glass, smokey, bacony nose, lots of ripe fruit, quite a fleshy wine, well-made, middle road Margaux, satisfying, but not high in finesse. (Tasted en primeur) |
