Tasting Note: |
Wine Advocate #153(6/2004) Rating: 87 points Drink: 2004-2012
Excellent balance along with copious quantities of sweet black cherry and cassis fruit are found in the 2001 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux. Light to medium-bodied, with a style similar to its bigger sister, but neither the concentration nor length, it should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years. - Robert Parker
Wine Spectator (3/31/2004) Score: 89
Fresh and floral, with hints of berries and vanilla. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a fresh, fruity finish. Refined. Second wine of Margaux. Best after 2007. 20,000 cases made. –JS
Decanter Rating:
Very good colour, lovely nose showing ripe fruit and full, but restrained maturity, tight, well-knit tannins, very elegant and long. Described by Paul Pontallier as 'tres chic'. Very good.
