Tasting Note: |
Wine Advocate #140(4/2002) Rating: 87 points Drink: 2002-2012
This is an estate where the quality of the second wine is more than a simple afterthought. The 1999 Pavillon Rouge de Margaux exhibits notes of herbs in its elegant, medium-bodied, forward, complex personality. It possesses the character of its big sister, but not the weight, concentration, or length. Enjoy it over the next decade. - Robert Parker
Wine Spectator (3/31/2002) Score: 89
Gorgeous blackberries, currants and spices on the nose. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a luscious aftertaste. Second wine of Margaux. Best after 2004. 16,665 cases made. –JS
Chateau Classic (1/5/2000)
The second wine of Castle Margaux. With its 59 % of Cabernet sauvignon, it was never so close to proportions of the first wine (76 %). This wine is of a pure delicacy, with its finely fruity nose, of berries, and its aromatic style in mouth. Present and ripe tannins.
