Tasting Note: |
Wine Advocate #153 (6/2004) Rating: 89 points Drink: 2006 - 2014
This pure, elegant Margaux offers intensely fragrant aromas of melted licorice, black currants, and smoked herbs in a medium-bodied, deep ruby/purple-colored style. A classic Margaux with good purity, but not the size, depth, or power of the 2000, it is a finesse-styled effort with impressive balance. -Robert Parker
Wine Spectator (3/31/2004) Score: 91
Loads of blackberry and tobacco on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Serious concentration for the vintage, yet outstanding finesse. I like this as much as the 2000. Best after 2008. 11,665 cases made. –JS
Decanter Rating:
Rich, dense nose, has weight and opulence, almost plummy. Rich, full bodied, concentrated, vigour and spice, well-integrated oak, balanced. Drink 2008-17. |
